Founded in March 1971, the Brant Belle-A-Dears had its enthusiastic beginning at a meeting organized by family members of the men’s choral group, the Brant Men of Song. The women wanted to provide a choir for Brantford and area women who were interested in singing with the desire to provide entertainment for community service and charitable organizations. Over the years, the women have traveled with the Brant Men of Song, and performed solo concerts as well.
We traditionally provide three concerts during the season. The Christmas concert is a combined concert with the Brant Men of Song. Each year the choir chooses a local charity to benefit from the proceeds of a second concert showcasing the choir and other local musicians. In 2017, we supported the juvenile division of the local chapter of Diabetes Canada providing funds to help a child with diabetes go to camp. The admission cost to the charity concert also includes donations to the local food bank. The third and final concert is held in the Spring season and is traditionally a concert presented by the Brant County Singers alone. The choir also performs at local community events and long-term care facilities throughout the season.
